Mobile Phone Generation: 1G vs 2G vs 3G vs 4G vs 5G

Mobile Phone Generation: The internet has quickly become the place for efficient communication between different people around the world. People can share their messages with others in the blink of an eye. Everyone lives in our modern world by allowing them to make and exchange messages on the phones that they own.

In comparison, back in the 1800’s people relied solely on letters, magazines, and letters sent by phone. The internet changed all that. People now use the internet to share their messages with friends, family, work colleagues, and officials. This internet, however, is important because it helps everyone to get to their destination even if they are far away from each other.

The internet puts a link between everyone around the world and helps with everyone sharing information. The internet is utilized to make financial transactions too. In today’s modern world, a business can get its products to its consumers. For the world to be connected, the internet changes the lives of many people.

But what is this 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G

1G: Voice only

Do you remember the old days of the 1980s? The starting of cell phones begin with the use of 1G technology. 1G only supports voice calls. The quality of voice was not Soo clear but it was enough to understand what the next person is speaking. And the phone using 1G technology was having a very poor Battey life because at that time the technology was very new and the hardware was not that much capable to handle the load of 1G. 1G network uses AMPS, NMT, and TACS technology to run. And 1G runs at 30KHz frequency. The maximum speed of 1G was 2.4 kbps.

2G: The starting of SMS, MMS

The 2G technology introduce us to call and text msg encryption along that it also gave us services like SMS, MMS, and picture messages.
2G was using 2 different technology for communication first was “General Packet Radio Service” (GPRS) and GSM and it runs on a frequency of 1.8 GHz with a bandwidth of 14.4 to 64 Kbps. And the speed of 2G was 50-384 Kbps. And the second technology was EDGE+ with EDGE+ the user can get a speed up to 1.3 Mbps.

3G: MOBILE INTERNET and VIDEO CALLING

The introduction of the 3G network was done in the year 1998. 3G brought us many interesting features like video calling, mobile internet, web surfing and social media etc. The 3G network works on WCDMA technology with a frequency of 1.6 – 2 GHz. And the speed of 3G was 2 Mbps on nonmoving objects and
384 Kbps on moving objects.

4G: Current generation

The 4G of networking was introduced in the year 2008. As 3G the 4G also introduces many amazing features like gaming service, video conference, HD video streaming, and many 3other features which demand high speed of internet access. The 4G network was based on LTE and WifiWax technology with a frequency of 2 – 8 GHz The speed of 4G internet was upto 400 Mbps. And most of the current mobile phone supports 3G and 4G.

5G: The Upcoming Standard

The 5G network is currently under testing but now many mobile companies started making and selling 5G mobiles all over the world. 5G is promising Faster data speed than 4G, Much lower latency, energy-saving, and many other improvements. On papers, the data is saying that the speed of the 5G network will be 20 Gbps and it will go to use MIMO and mm Waves with a frequency of 3 – 30 GHz.

Wrapping Up- Mobile Phone Generation

As we are growing In all the fields of technology we will continue developing to new technology for internet and others. As of now the 5G is currently under testing and not fully launched but it will launch in 2023 according to me, we don’t need to shift instantly to 5G because 4G is enough for our current usage and we also have to buy a new 5G compatible Device to use 5G network.
